New SAT Information

The new reformatted SAT test is here for 2016, and so are our prep courses. The first new test will be held on March 5th, and there are lots of changes being made. Ahead of the Curve Tutoring has Prep Courses for the new SAT to prepare students for the exam. We have been getting ready for this switch and adjusting teaching methods to fit the test.

There have been some drastic changes to the format and scoring of the New SAT Test. For starters, there is no longer a penalty for guessing. In the past we encourage students only to guess when they can eliminate 2 or more answers, but now that is not the case. Another big change comes with the essay, which is now an optional part of the exam. There are also new types of questions in the Reading Comprehension section. It is important to start studying early for the New SAT. The more practice tests a student can take the better. Ahead of the Curve Tutoring has multiple prep courses to fit every student’s needs. I have been a working as a private tutor for over eight years. While attending the University of California, at Santa Barbara, I began my tutoring career. I knew right away tutoring was something I enjoyed doing and was meant to pursue. After I completed my degree in mathematical sciences, I moved to San Diego to work in business developement and continued tutoring students of all grade levels. My students results were always outstanding and the parents were thrilled. This gave me a sense of pride and fulfillment. By parent and student word of mouth, my reputation as a specialist in mathematics tutoring in San Diego began to spread throughout the city. Since then, I have built long lasting relationships with many families in the area, being asked to tutor multiple years with a student as well as multiple students in a family. When I started struggling in my chemistry and physiology courses in college, I decided I needed to find a tutor.
