About Us

Ahead of the Curve tutoring services was founded by a local San Diego tutor, who knows the real process behind teaching students. As a tutor, it is not just about how well you know the subject you are teaching, but also how well you know the student you are teaching it to. After practicing as a private tutor for over eight years, the idea to turn this working knowledge and experience into a business was born. The mission is to provide students in San Diego with the best one-on-one, academic help from someone they can build a strong and trusting relationship with. We know that each student is different and requires a personalized tutoring program that is built around their individual needs and skill level. Ahead of the Curve Tutoring not only assigns students the most qualified tutors, but also someone they can feel comfortable talking to and learning from. This is when true success is achieved and students become Ahead of the Curve.

Our tutors

At Ahead of the Curve Tutoring, you can be assured that all of our tutors are either college graduates or currently enrolled at a university. This way we provide a higher level of service and professionalism to our clients. Each of our tutors are screened before hire to ensure only the most qualified tutors are selected to join our team and work with your child. We look for passionate educators in San Diego that truly want to make a difference in a student’s life. Our tutors are true experts of their subjects. They are personable and kind people you will enjoy working with for a long time to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some our most frequently asked questions. If you need any other information, we encourage you to call us as 818-219-8003 or email us at Michelle@AheadoftheCurveTutoring.

How do I get started?

To get started simply fill out the contact information under the contact us section, or give us a call at 818-219-8003. As soon as we gather some information about your child such as grade level and subject area, and location, we will provide you with an excellent tutor based on his or her individual needs.

What times and days are your tutors available?

Tutoring can take place on any day of the week, in the morning, afternoon, or evening. We will find you a tutor who is available the specific days and times you request. This way we can accommodate any family’s needs and schedules.

What if I need to change the schedule?

If you need to make a permanent adjustment to your tutoring schedule, simply discuss the new days and times with your tutor. If he or she is unable to work those days, just give us a call at 818-219-8003, and we will provide you with another tutor who can.

What are your rates for tutoring?

We have different packages based on the number of hours per week, students personal needs and student grade levels. The more hours you buy the more each hour will go down in price. We also work with a family’s individual needs. To find out more information or to get a quote, you can send an email to Michelle@AheadoftheCurveTutoring.com or call us at 818-219-8003.

Where will the tutoring take place?

Tutoring will take place in your home at the agreed upon time. You may choose to have tutoring take place at another public location such as a school, library, or coffee shop, as long as you and your tutor both agree upon so.

What if my child cannot make a tutoring session or will be late?

That is no problem at all. Just notify your tutor by 10am the day of the scheduled lesson without any charge. If you are unable to do so, you will be charged for the hour as planned. If your child will be late for a lesson, our tutors are happy to wait. However, the waiting time will count as part of the hour.

Do you have a guarantee?

We promise to provide your child with an outstanding tutor. If at anytime you are unsatisfied with your tutor for any reason, we will set you up with another tutor right away. We want your child to get the most out of each lesson, and we will work with you until you are satisfied.

Do hours ever expire?

No. The hours you purchase will never expire and may be used for any subject your child needs tutoring in, now and in the future. Also as stated above, if your child no longer needs lessons, and you still have hours leftover, you may request a refund of the unused hours.

How does a refund work?

You can request a refund of any unused hours for up to one year from the purchase date. For example, if you bought 16 hours and only used 12, you would be billed for 12 hours at the 8 our package price. The remainder would then be refunded to you.

Is there any long term contract?

There is no long term contract at Ahead of the Curve Tutoring. You can stop tutoring at any time, and all unused hours will be refunded for up to a year from the purchase date.
